Očová Airport ( LZOC ) is a non-public domestic airport with irregular traffic located in the Podpoľanie region, northeast of the town of Zvolen near the village of Očová. It has two grass runways measuring 780 x 25 m and 620 x 40 m. The region itself offers excellent opportunities for tourism, history lovers will definitely not miss a visit to the historical towns of Zvolen, Banská Bystrica, Banská Štiavnica or Kremnica. The famous Sliač Spa is also nearby. Očová Airport is a good choice if you are planning to visit the region of central Slovakia. Očová Airport is known for its history and famous personalities. Among the most important personalities who started flying at this airport is undoubtedly the former Slovak fighter pilot and the first citizen of the Slovak Republic, who in 1999 flew as the 385th person into space, retired Brigadier General Ing. Ivan Bella. Other world-famous personalities of the Očová airport are the legendary and unique Slovak acrobatic group operating since 1981 in the Očová Aeroclub, Očovskí Bačovia. The only group in the world that since 2003 consists of a Z 137 Turbocmelak towing aircraft and four gliders (L-13, L-23 Blaník). Until this year, the group performed at air days in a set of four Z 142 towing motor planes and four L 13 gliders. The group has many performances and records to its credit. The most significant is the one from 2006, where nine gliders successfully took off from Sliač airport, followed by one single-engine plane.
