Empuriabrava Aerodrome (LEAP) is a well-known spot as one the best places in Europe for skydiving. The city is surrounded by water canals, like Venice in Italy, and is located 80nm North of Barcelona and just 20nm from France border. It is indeed a very busy aerodrome with Twin Otter and Pilatus based aircraft going up and down constantly, student and private pilots coming in for a day visit, parachutes landing both sides of the runway and all coordinated with just an air to air frequency. When the Tramontana wind hits the aerodrome, you can find heavy turbulence at mid altitudes, so keep an eye when trying to catch some mountain waves, as you might glide for hours or be very close to the ground!
