GCTS GCXO - Tenerife Airports
Welcome to Tenerife, the largest and most populous island of the Canary Islands.
The island of Tenerife has two airports: the Tenerife North Airport (or Los Rodeos) and Tenerife South Airport (also known as Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport in honor of the former Queen of Spain). The south airport is situated in a tourist area, and therefore is the busiest, having hundreds of connections to different parts of the world. The island of Tenerife has two airports: the Tenerife North Airport (or Los Rodeos) and Tenerife South Airport (also known as Tenerife South-Reina Sofia Airport in honor of the former Queen of Spain). The south airport is situated in a tourist area, and therefore is the busiest, having hundreds of connections to different parts of the world. Tenerife North Airport operates mostly domestic flights between the islands of the archipelago. In this package, we recreated these two airports, GCTS and GCXO, and added a few POIs with custom satellite images and mesh.
The airports are known for their difficult weather conditions making every approach challenging. In the north, you’ll frequently meet low clouds, fog, and rain. In the south on the other hand wind gusts, sandstorms, and wind shears. Watch out for Calima and extremely high temperatures combined with low visibility.

The Aeropuerto de Tenerife Sur “Reina Sofía” opened its gates in 1978 to serve tourists and provide an alternative to the airport Tenerife North with its unreliable weather conditions. Named after the Spanish Queen Sofía who officially opened it, the airport has become the most important passenger hub of Tenerife. With Tenerife Sur for Microsoft Flight Simulator sim-wings recreates the airport in a high level of detail. High-resolution aerial images with up to 15 cm/pixel lay the groundwork for ...
